Move-out cleaning checklist for Colorado Springs renters and sellers

A move-out clean covers every room once the furniture is gone: kitchen cabinets and appliances inside and out, bathrooms top to bottom, floors, baseboards, doors, light switches, closets and window sills. Renters should check the lease for required items before the final walkthrough, and sellers should check the purchase contract. Book the clean for after the last boxes leave, with water and power still on.
Kitchen
The kitchen takes the longest, because everything that was hidden behind food and dishes is now on show.
- Cabinets and drawers, inside and out
- Counters, backsplash and sink
- Refrigerator inside and out, including shelves and drawers
- Oven, stovetop and range hood
- Dishwasher and microwave inside and out
- Floor, including along the edges and under where appliances sit if they can be moved safely
Bathrooms
Check each bathroom with the lights on; soap scum and water spots are easy to miss in an empty room.
- Toilet, including the base and behind it
- Tub, shower walls, glass and fixtures
- Sink, counter, mirror and cabinets inside and out
- Exhaust fan cover and light fixtures you can reach safely
- Floor and baseboards
Bedrooms, living areas and closets
With the furniture out, the marks it was covering are the first thing a landlord or buyer sees.
- Closet shelves, rods and floors
- Baseboards, doors and door frames
- Light switches, outlet covers and door handles
- Window sills and tracks
- Vacuum and mop every floor, corners included
Renters, sellers and landlords: what changes
Renters: your lease is the checklist that matters. Many leases list move-out cleaning requirements, and some ask for carpet cleaning. Once the clean is done, take dated photos of each room before you hand back the keys.
Sellers: check your purchase contract for the condition the home should be in at closing, and book the clean before the buyer’s final walkthrough.
Landlords and property managers: the turnover window between tenants is often short. Send the move-out date, the next move-in date and how to get keys, and ask for carpet cleaning, window cleaning or junk removal in the same request if the unit needs it.
When to book and what to have ready
Book the clean for after the movers have left and before your handover, final walkthrough or closing. Keep water and power on until it is done. Move dates tend to cluster at the end of the month, so book early if yours falls then.
When you ask CRM for a quote, share the address, the size of the home, the date you need it done, its current condition and any extras such as carpet or window cleaning. CRM confirms the list with you before the visit. See move-in and move-out cleaning for the service details.
